Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (e.g., safety/fire, chemical, mechanical)
    
Type of Experience

  • Extensive onshore design experience in the Oil and Gas / Petrochemical or similar industries.
  • Recent experience in Loss Prevention design experience in onshore Oil and Gas installations is required.
  • Offshore experience is considered as additional desirable qualification. 
  • Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of Loss prevention engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, and industry fire and safety codes, standards and specifications, such as NFPA, OSHA, EPA, API and COMAH.
  • Knowledge and use of specific software such as PIPENET Sprinkler/Spray module, PHA-PRO-7, Shell FRED, PHAST, CIRRUS for Gas Dispersion or similar software. Knowledge in PHAST Risk for QRA studies and Fault Tree are desirable. 
  • Candidate should have Loss prevention / Fire protection engineering experience in areas such as: 
  • Process safety Management
  • Safety in plant designs
  • Hazard identification
  • Qualitative and quantitative risk analysis
  • Consequence modeling 
  • Candidate shall have an excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Resourceful in researching for technical knowledge.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills to be able to coordinate in a multi disciplinary environment.

  • Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and directing fire and safety studies and recommending loss control methods for industrial, hydrocarbon or chemical facilities. Focus areas should include process safety management, quantitative and qualitative risk assessment, hazard identification and HAZOP studies.
  • Reviewing new projects and planned modifications to existing facilities for conformance to applicable fire and safety engineering standards and codes. Projects may vary in scope from major oil and gas producing / refining facilities / plants, to industrial or community complexes, and office buildings. 
  • Should be able to develop Loss Prevention Philosophy, Fire-fighting system design (including firewater demand calculations, PFDs, P&IDs, layout drawings, equipment specifications and datasheets) escape route layout drawings, fire and gas cause-and-effect diagrams, fire and gas detection layouts,  schedule of hazardous sources and passive fire protection studies.
  • Should be able to provide inputs for the preparation of plot plans, organizing the issuance of engineering drawings and technical documents for Inter-Discipline Checks (IDC’s) and coordinating with other engineering disciplines in the integration of data inputs.
  • Carrying out HAZOP, HAZID and QRA studies/meetings.
  • Participate in meetings with client and vendor representatives, clarify and ensure vendor specifications meet with client requirements in a cost effective manner.
  • Preparation of technical requisitions and participating in the technical evaluation of vendor bid offers. 
  • Provide guidance in the Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) and reviewing vendor drawings and documents. 
  • Interact with Quality Assurance for quality issues; strictly ensure compliance with Company’s Quality procedures.
  • Interface and provide clarification, guidance and technical support to construction sites and commissioning engineers.
