Summary of Role:

Either when working alone or as Lead Engineer in the day to day management of electrical engineers/designers, the main responsibilities include; to identify, engineer, specify, supervise installation of, test and commission electrical equipment for the process industry in general, and specifically electrical systems and equipment relevant to the operation of pipelines transporting liquid or gaseous hydrocarbons and their associated storage facilities.  Knowledge of directly related technical areas (e.g. hazardous area classification) and both European and North American electrical standards and codes is also required. Emphasis is on identifying cost-effective solutions compliant with client requirements, while ensuring the processes operate safely.

To assist with the planning and co-ordination of the overall technical design and engineering implementation of project work.  The efficient management of engineering issues that relate to all engineering disciplines and third party specialist suppliers and sub-contractors.

Project range includes for Feasibility, Conceptual, FEED and Detailed Engineering Designs, through to EPC contracts. Co-ordinate with the company ‘Operations Manager’ in respect to the development of skills and technical knowledge for both self and discipline engineers, in relation to on-going personnel training programmes.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Distribution Systems, from LV up to 33kV – full scope from conceptual design through detail design to on-site testing and commissioning. Knowledge of electrical systems and equipment above 33kV may be advantageous
  • Specification of HV and LV Electrical Equipment (switchgear, motors, Cables, VFD, Soft Starters, Transformers, etc.)
  • Interfaces with Mechanical, Civil and C&I disciplines to ensure an overall design that meets client requirements
  • Data Communications techniques– to ensure appropriate interfaces between Electrical and C&I Disciplines
  • Overall management/responsibility of Electrical Discipline activities across all projects within Onshore Business Unit, including provision of guidance to engineers assigned to projects and assignment of Discipline Engineers to projects
  • As Lead Engineer on a project, responsible to Engineering Manager/Construction Manager/Project Manager for execution of electrical discipline activities in line with project budget/timescale
