The Greece-Italy Natural Gas Interconnector (IGI) is a 580 km and 42" diameter high pressure natural gas pipeline from Kotomini in Eastern Greece to Thesprotia in Western Greece.
The IGI will receive gas from the Turkish pipeline system and transport it to the Italian system in order to provide a route for the export of natural gas from the Caspian and Middle East regions to European markets.
Working in Conjunction with their Partner Company, Penspen are providing Basic Engineering Design to DESFA for the following elements:

Approx. 580km of 42” diameter high pressure gas pipeline from Kotomini in Eastern Greece to Thesprotia where the pipeline ties in to the Offshore section of the IGI project.
Line Valve and Scraper Stations.
3 No. Compressor Stations at Kipi, Komotini and Nea Messimvria.
2 No. Metering/Regulating Stations to supply gas to the existing Natural Gas Transmission
System at Komotini and Nea Messimvria.
A dedicated SCADA/Control and Telecommunications facilities for the new pipeline system.
