Penspen, a leading international energy consultancy, has announced a strategic collaboration with Cosasco, a globally recognised specialist in corrosion monitoring technologies, to further drive digital and technical innovation in asset integrity management.
As energy and industrial sectors face increasing challenges in optimising asset performance and complying with evolving regulatory standards tied to ageing infrastructure, the two companies aim to address these issues by offering offer a smarter, digitally driven approach to asset integrity management by integrating Cosasco’s pioneering corrosion monitoring systems with Penspen’s 70+ years of expertise in pipeline integrity.
Cosasco has led the field in corrosion monitoring, delivering cutting-edge solutions that support real-time detection and precise forecasting of corrosion progression. These capabilities enable timely interventions and proactive maintenance strategies that help extend asset life.
Om Mourya, Cosasco Vice President of Sales, added: “Cosasco’s technologies are at the core of modern Asset Integrity Management strategies, offering critical insights into corrosion and material degradation. The integration of Cosasco’ real-time monitoring with Penspen’s innovative digital integrity platform signifies a powerful convergence of operational experience and digital innovation.
“Through continuous data collection, predictive insights, and remote monitoring capabilities, this partnership doesn’t just empower operators to monitor integrity — it enables them to manage it intelligently, safely, and efficiently in the digital age.”
Advancing Innovation in Asset Integrity
The new agreement is the latest step in Penspen’s strategy to advance the development of asset integrity methods and technologies. In 2024, the consultancy launching its dedicated in-house corrosion laboratory in Perun Latin America to support a growing number of asset integrity projects worldwide. The lab provides technical support for a range of internal corrosion monitoring activities, including laboratory-based sampling and analysis, the evaluation of corrosimetric coupons and biocoupons, non-destructive testing (NDT), and the collection of data from corrosion probes and online smart monitoring devices.
Turning Integrity Data Challenges into Opportunities with Digitalisation
Both field and laboratory asset integrity efforts generate significant volumes of corrosion-related data. The main challenge lies in effectively correlating and centralising this information to support streamlined analysis, enhanced visualisation, and actionable recommendations. This challenge can be effectively addressed through Penspen’s digital integrity management solution, THEIA.
THEIA serves as a centralised platform for integrating and managing large volumes of integrity data from various sources without requiring pre-formatting. Within minutes, users can integrate field-collected information from Cosasco’s corrosion monitoring systems, laboratory results, and other pipeline data, enabling operators to streamline integrity assessments and decision-making processes.
THEIA unlocks value from both historical and real-time data, helping to optimise asset performance, extend lifecycles, and support regulatory compliance. With real-time analytics, AI-driven insights, and intuitive visualisation tools, THEIA empowers operators to implement proactive maintenance strategies, reduce risks, improve safety, and enhance operational efficiency of critical energy infrastructure. Integrating data from Cosasco’s corrosion monitoring technologies will drive an additional layer of data analysis to support operators in the development of informed, efficient and results-driven integrity and maintenance plans.
Gustavo Romero, Penspen Latin America Director, added: “The collaboration is focused on delivering greater value to our clients through enhanced corrosion monitoring and management capabilities. By combining over 70 years of Penspen’s pipeline integrity expertise, the advanced capabilities of our digital solution THEIA, and Cosasco’s pioneering corrosion technology, we are offering a truly comprehensive solution that enables operators to optimise asset performance, mitigate risks, and ensure long-term sustainability.”
The agreement, officially signed at the 2025 AMPP Annual Conference + Expo, combines over 140 years of expertise in asset integrity management. By integrating deep technical knowledge across the two companies with advanced digital tools like THEIA, the collaboration aims to set a new standard for asset integrity management for energy operators worldwide.
