Bringing global engineering experience to local project requirements, we have been delivering onshore and offshore engineering services to the energy industry for 70+ years. We help clients develop new energy assets through customised engineering solutions. As a multi-discipline company, we combine quality and technical excellence with agility, providing the full range of pipeline and facility services over the full lifecycle of a project.
Our areas of expertise include conceptual and feasibility studies, basic and front end engineering, detailed design, operability and risk assessment as well as project management services, procurement services and engineering support to main works contractors under the EPC banner. In addition to development projects, our technical skillset enables safe and cost-effective execution of decommissioning projects for redundant hydrocarbon assets.
Our engineering team hosts expertise in both onshore and offshore work, which allows us to minimise interfaces for optimal design.
Onshore Engineering
Providing customised engineering solutions in over 100 countries+ worldwide, our onshore capabilities address all aspects of gas or liquid hydrocarbons facilities including pipeline landfalls, terminals, storage, and transportation systems.
Offshore Engineering
Our offshore experience covers subsea production systems architecture design, from wellhead to topsides riser tie-ins, to offshore oil and gas pipeline transportation networks. We successfully execute a wide range of challenging projects, providing independent advice to ensure maximum returns.

Acquired by Penspen in 2024, C&I Engineering Solutions operates from its headquarters in Aberdeen’s Balmoral Business Park. Founded in 2013 by CEO Grant Lunn, the company was established to provide an independent engineering consultancy supporting clients’ facilities, operations and maintenance teams in the delivery of niche, multi-discipline control, instrumentation and electrical work scopes across the energy sector.
To date, C&I Engineering Solutions has delivered approximately 2,000 engineering projects for more than 40 customers across energy security, energy transition, and renewable markets.
