Project Background

The client, an oil and gas Operator, requires the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction of surface facilities design for a new Transition Zone B development within a brownfield site to help achieve an additional oil production rate of 15 MBOPD. All associated works with the project are required to be carried out in accordance with tight shutdown requirements for the Central Processing Plant.

Scope of Work

Under the scope of work, Penspen provided:

  • Detailed Engineering services for two new clustering facilities – including production manifold and associated flowlines, gas, and water injection systems.
  • New wells tie ins and associated works in existing brown field cluster
  • Mitigation plan for debottlenecking and accommodating the increase in the water production rates.
  • Detailed Engineering services for a new water supply & disposal facility with an accompanying short-term mitigation plan for the increased water supply and water injection system as a backup to any potential delay to project wave.
  • Detailed Engineering services for all associated civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, telecommunications, Cathodic Protection (CP), and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) works.

Result

Penspen’s multi-disciplinary engineering experts successfully completed the detailed engineering requirements of the project, which also included providing a dedicated task force team, at a peak of 45 people, during the project.

The client was provided with comprehensive support in vendor document review with more than 4,000 engineering deliverables reviewed – including specialised pumps, vessels under pressure, various skids, control valves, and other piping elements, along with 3D modelling services using PDS/SPI and SPPID software.

Penspen’s innovative thinking also saved the client from completely rebuilding their current pipe racks, as Penspen designed an entirely new route that was perfectly optimised for the MP Compressor connector. Due to the conditions associated with a brownfield site, it was exceedingly challenging, yet completed successfully for the client, enabling them to go on to enhance their energy supply.
