Project Background

Penspen was awarded a contract by an international oil and gas company to provide Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) services for the enhancement of fuel farm facilities at Erbil International Airport, the main airport serving Erbil city in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. With one of the world’s longest runways, the airport serves as a critical hub along the modern trade routes.

Services

Penspen’s Middle East team carried out a series of FEED services to optimise the efficiency, safety, and reliability of the airport’s fuel infrastructure. The project covered key fuel farm components, including:

  • Bridger offloading & Refueler Loading
  • Storage Tanks
  • Test Rigs
  • Pump House
  • Fire Water & Foam System
  • Oily Water Separator
  • Electrical Systems

Result

Leveraging our extensive experience in aviation fueling projects across the Middle East and Africa, along with a deep understanding of the client’s goal to enhance fuel farm facilities at Erbil International Airport, our engineering team successfully minimised the design period, reduced CAPEX costs, and effectively future-proofed Erbil International Airport’s fuel supply to meet the growing demands of the Kurdistan region’s aviation industry.
