Over the past ten years, the UK’s total greenhouse gas emissions have fallen by 24% – a drop driven mainly by the power sector’s transition towards renewables and natural gas at the expense of coal. However, decarbonisation is not a straightforward path, raising necessary questions about hydrogen blends, capacity, and repurposing of networks.
In the latest issue of the Dar Magazine, Nigel Curson, Penspen’s EVP of Technical Excellence, shares a technical vision for the United Kingdom’s gas network as an example for national gas networks to support the discussion around hydrogen and decarbonisation to reach net zero.
