Industry Report:

Capability Gap Analysis for Newbuild Offshore CO2 Pipeline Transportation Systems

As the UK accelerates the development of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) infrastructure, confidence in the safe and efficient transport of CO₂ will play a critical role in delivering projects on time and at scale. Although the technologies underpinning offshore CO₂ pipelines are well established, successfully integrating them into multi-emitter CCS networks requires further validation across technical, operational and regulatory interfaces.

In this report, commissioned by the North Sea Transition Authority, Penspen’s experts aim to identify gaps which, if addressed, would accelerate the development of new CO2 transportation infrastructure in the UK. The comprehensive study explores the maturity of CO₂ transport systems, the challenges most likely to influence project delivery, and the actions needed to support investment decisions and long-term deployment.

Download the report to understand the technical priorities and practical considerations that will shape the next generation of UK CCS transport networks.
