EIC Survive & Thrive Report 2025

Global Knowledge, Local Delivery: Building Energy Infrastructure for a Sustainable Future

The Energy Industries Council (EIC), the UK’s leading trade association for the energy supply chain, has published its 2025 Survive & Thrive Report. This annual report serves as a key resource for energy decision-makers, offering strategies, lessons, and insights from companies shaping the future of the global energy industry.

As one of 138 member companies featured and recognised for resilience and success, Penspen CEO Peter O’Sullivan shares insights into Penspen’s transformation. He discusses how aligning the company’s business model around a clear purpose, to improve access to secure and sustainable energy, has enabled Penspen to:

  • Successfully doubled revenue and headcount over the past five years (2020-2025), despite market volatility during the oil & gas downturn and the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Deploy a four-pillar transformation framework, centred on client relationships, people development, operational excellence, and technical differentiation to tailor Penspen’s global expertise to the unique dynamics of local markets.
  • Leverage over 70 years of pipeline heritage to drive progress toward a cleaner energy future and lead first-of-their-kind low-carbon infrastructure projects. These include hydrogen network development work with REN-Gasodutos in Portugal and a recent contract award from United Living to provide detailed engineering services for the ground-breaking HyNet Liverpool Bay CCS Storage Facility project in the UK.
